February at Akurateco was a busy month filled with industry events, new connections, and progress across our platform. ⚡
Our team attended several fintech and payments events, meeting partners, merchants, and innovators while discussing the future of payments and how businesses can scale their payment infrastructure.
We also continued improving transaction stability, refining reporting and reconciliation tools, and expanding integrations with payment providers and alternative payment methods.
March will continue this momentum with new platform updates and more opportunities to connect with the payments community. 🚀
Product Updates Digest
This release focuses on three strategic pillars: centralized 3DS control, smarter routing, and expanded global payment coverage, supported by multiple new integrations and platform-level enhancements.
External MPI: Centralized 3DS Before Authorization
We introduced External MPI integration, allowing 3DS authentication to be completed before sending a transaction to an acquirer.
In the traditional model, most acquirers manage the 3DS flow on their side. This tightly couples authentication with a specific processing endpoint and makes cascading more complex.
With External MPI:
- 3DS verification is performed independently of the acquirer.
- Authentication results (Challenge, Frictionless, Exemptions) are obtained upfront.
- Verified transactions can be routed to one or multiple acquirers without repeating 3DS.
Business impact
- Centralized control over 3DS strategy.
- Ability to define authentication logic independently from individual acquirers.
- Seamless cascading with reusable authentication data.
- Reduced payer friction and improved authorization performance.
This enhancement lays the groundwork for more advanced payment orchestration and consistent authentication governance across regions.
Routing Enhancements
We continued expanding our routing capabilities to provide greater flexibility and data-driven decision-making.
New routing condition based on custom_data
Merchants can now configure routing rules using values passed in the custom_data array. All standard logical operations are supported (equality, containment, list-based logic, etc.).
This enables:
- Business-driven traffic segmentation.
- Dynamic routing based on merchant-specific parameters.
- Custom payment flow allocation aligned with operational logic.
Smart ID Enhancement
Smart ID has been upgraded to allow transaction history checks within a single organization scope.
This is particularly important for multi-organization structures, enabling:
- More precise payer identification.
- Controlled historical lookup boundaries.
- Improved routing and decision-making accuracy based on scoped data.
New Integrations & Acceptance Expansion
We expanded our payments stack with new pay-in and payout integrations designed to improve regional coverage and authorization performance.
Key additions:
- Digital banking transfers in ARS and MXN, strengthening local account-based payment capabilities in LATAM.
- A new hosted payment page flow for secure redirect-based checkout implementations.
- A two-stage enterprise payout model supporting more advanced disbursement logic.
- Added support for additional popular APMs across LATAM and Europe to increase local authorization rates.
These integrations enhance access to regional payment infrastructures and improve alignment with local consumer preferences.
Connector Upgrades
More than 10 existing integrations were upgraded to expand functionality and improve performance across APAC, LATAM, and the EU.
Enhancements include:
- Recurring billing support.
- Expanded refund and post-processing operations.
- Additional APM variations.
- Improved routing accuracy across regional processing endpoints.
These upgrades strengthen subscription-based models, improve refund handling, and enhance overall transaction stability.
Transactions & Export Improvements
We enhanced transaction visibility and reporting capabilities within the platform.
Expanded filters and columns
Users can now filter and display additional card attributes directly in the transaction list, including:
- Card type (debit/credit)
- Card category (business, commercial, private)
- Card level
This reduces the need to open individual transaction details for operational analysis.
Customizable transaction export
Merchants can now select which columns should be included in the exported transaction file. The export will reflect exactly the visible and selected fields, instead of the full transaction payload.
This improves reconciliation efficiency and supports finance and BI workflows with cleaner datasets.
Checkout Page Improvements
The checkout page has been updated to improve usability and input validation.
Enhancements include:
- Multiselect search functionality for easier option selection.
- Improved data validation (e.g., structured phone number and country code handling).
- Stricter field formatting to prevent invalid submissions before payment processing.
These changes reduce user errors, improve data quality, and contribute to higher completion rates.
Platform Improvements
Enhanced Transaction Export Formats
Expanded export capabilities provide richer datasets for analytics and reconciliation processes.
VAT Module Expansion
Added U.S. support to the VAT configuration module, improving tax calculation accuracy for international merchants.
Redirect & Callback Configuration
Improved url_target settings allow more flexible redirect and callback handling for complex integration scenarios.
