MAIB is the Commercial Bank “Moldova Agroindbank” S.A. with about one million clients all over the world. MAIB originated in 1991 in Moldova after the reorganization of the Moldovan representative office of the Agroindustrial Bank of the USSR. Over 30 years, the MAIB has become a leading player in the Moldovan banking industry. In 2016, it was named the Best Bank in Moldova, according to Global Finance. As of now, MAIB is the largest Moldovan commercial bank according to its total assets and total equity. With 70 branches across the country, MAIB has one of the largest national branch networks.

The company offers multiple services and high-quality financial-banking solutions. Among the bank’s products are term deposits, current accounts, payment cards, capital market investment products, letters of credit, bank guarantees, and documentary collection products. In addition to leasing, MAIB offers multi-optional loans, credit cards, overdrafts, personal loans, real estate loans, microcredit, and working capital financing.

MAIB Group includes MAIB as the parent company and two subsidiaries: MAIB leasing and Moldmediacard. The bank’s main stockholder is a consortium of the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development, Invalda INVL, a major asset management company in the Baltics, and Horizon Capital, a private investment fund aimed at rising European markets.

Payments made in foreign currencies are fully compliant with state currency laws as well as banking regulations. MAIB also conducts foreign exchange. There are two types of Forex transactions: spot transactions and forward transactions. Spot transactions are conducted within two business days of the transaction being executed. Forward transactions are conducted more than two business days. The bank is ready to negotiate the exchange rate if the customer conducts multiple forex transactions.
